This collection consists of journal entries, letters, and publications related to the Spanish-American War.
Background
The Spanish-American War lasted from April to August of 1898. It took place following an explosion on the USS Maine in Havana
Harbor in Cuba, which led to United States intervention in the Cuban War of Independence from Spain. The war was fought in
both the Caribbean and the Pacific with US naval forces. Spain was also taking Cuban insurgent attacks and losing many soldiers
to yellow fever.
