Biography/Administrative History
The Cadillac & Lake City Railway Company was incorporated March 5, 1963, and began operating with the help of Carlton Johnson,
who had a locomotive the railway used to pull its trains. As a tourist railroad, it originally ran 4.5 miles, from Lake City
to Sandstown, Michigan. (Missaukee Jct to Lake City and Falmouth). Service was discontinued February 2, 1976, and this line
was abandoned August 16, 1984. In March 1980, The Cadillac & Lake City Railroad management took over operation of 107 miles
of former Rock Island line tracks from Limon, Colorado to Phillipsburg, Kansas. This operation ended in 1989, after the Mid
State Port Authority purchased a large part of the track on May 15, 1984.
The Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway Company was incorporated April 26, 1977, to operate on former New York Central tracks in
Michigan. A short line, the Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway Company ran 54 miles through eastern-central Michigan. On October
1982 it was designated by the State of Michigan to operate former Ann Arbor line from Ann Arbor to Alma.
The Huckleberry Railroad operates a short section along the route of the Pere Marquette Railway (which became part of the
Chesapeake & Ohio Railway system in the 1940s) and departs from Flint, Michigan. Today, the railroad is part of the Crossroads
Village & Huckleberry Railroad Park, a popular tourist attraction in Flint.
