Description
The Humboldt Bank, was organized in 1869. The collection consists of three ledgers, two signature books (1883-1902) and one deposit book (1869-1872).
Background
The Humboldt Bank, organized in 1869, was one of the oldest Savings Banks in California. It was originally located at No. 4 Kearny Street, when, having purchased a site and erected a three-story building, it removed to 16-18 Geary Street. In 1905 the property was sold and the site at 785 Market Street, near Fourth, was purchased. The Beaux Arts building was completed in 1908 by architect Frederick H. Meyer.

Restrictions
All requests for permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the City Archivist. Permission for publication is given on behalf of the San Francisco Public Library as the owner of the physical items.
Availability
The collection is available for use during San Francisco History Center hours, with photographs available during Photo Desk hours. Collections that are stored offsite should be requested 48 hours in advance.
