Album 51 is a 11 x 15 black photo album that looks to be assembled by a Southern Pacific company photographer. The book has 76 pages containing mostly 8 x 9 1/5 black and white glossy photos.
The book is in chronological order starting on May 23, 1949 and ending on August 7, 1950. This is a start to finish look at the construction of the Taylor Retarder Yard. There are captions under each photo. There are images of Central Tower "A", Hump Conductor's Office, Towers "B" and "C", the COmpressor Building, Pededtrain Overhead Bridge, Telegraph Department Building and general views of the Retarder Yard from the Overhead Bridge.
Album 52 consists of professional Southern Pacific photographs of the construction of the diesel locomotive facility at the Los Angeles Taylor yards. All phases of construction are shown. This abum appears to have been prepared for a high level company meeting such as a board meeting.
