Photographs and negatives belonging to the Upham family. Includes daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, and numerous portraits taken by Los Angeles photographic studios. There are six photo albums, one with views of Simi Valley. Box 5 contains portraits of Chinese, in particular, the Sing family members in Los Angeles; one photograph of the Mon Chong & Co. storefront on Apablasa in Old Chinatown; and one of military exercises under the movement by Homer Lea. Upham (b. 11-9-1898) graduated in 1918 from the State Normal School in Los Angeles and taught at the Cheremoya School in Hollywood from 1919 until retirement in 1959. She was born and raised in Los Angeles by her parents, George Washington Upham and Eliza Weed Upham.
