Historical or Biographical Note
Charles M. Loring was born January 13, 1899 and died June 17, 1973 in Napa, California. A maritime historian, Loring was,
in his own words, "vitally concerned with the preservation of the history" of the Alaska Packers Association fleet. He compiled
the data so it could be preserved by institutions dedicated to preserving the maritime history of the United States.
