Approximately 133 linear feet including folders of textual materials, photographs, index card file drawers, oversize foldered
items, scrapbooks, and other bound items.
Background
John Rowen Lyman was born in Berkeley, California on October 28, 1915. While still a youngster he became interested in the
lore and history of the sea, partly because of his easy access to the remains of vessels that could still be found around
the Bay Area.
