Background
E Clampus Vitus is a fraternal organization founded in the 1840s by Ephraim Bee to document and preserve the history of the American West. In 1969, The Billy Holcomb chapter of E Clampus Vitus was formed by L. Burr Belden to focus on the history of San Bernardino and Riverside counties by documenting the notable people, places, and events from this region.
