This collection contains announcements,
fliers, publications, and other materials pertaining to the Billy Holcomb chapter of E
Clampus Vitus, an organization dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of the
American West with an emphasis on San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Materials primarily
document the group's "Clampout" events and member research on the history of the Inland
Empire's notable people, places, and events.
Background
E Clampus Vitus is a fraternal organization founded in the 1840s by Ephraim Bee to document
and preserve the history of the American West. In 1969, The Billy Holcomb chapter of E
Clampus Vitus was formed by L. Burr Belden to focus on the history of San Bernardino and
Riverside counties by documenting the notable people, places, and events from this
region.
