Maupassant, Guy de. French author (1850-1893)Letter, in own handwriting, to his mother. Tells her about the beautiful landscape of the spa where he is staying. Prepares a short novel, leisurely, something quite different than Bel-Ami. Informs her in detail about his health. Does not consider the spa where he is the right one for him-he did not need invigorating waters but calming, soothing treatment. He was putting on weight despite physical activity. His father was busy painting and was happy to have been congratulated by a paint supplier on possessing such a great talent. He suffers from boredom. Will soon visit his mother in Cannes. Chatel-Guyon, Saturday, probably 1886.
