Description
Collection consists of photographs and slides pertaining to railroad freight cars and locomotives. The collection was assembled by railroad modeler, historian, and author Richard H. Hendrickson.
Background
Richard H. Hendrickson (1931-2014) was an academic linguist, railroad modeler, historian, and author. Born and raised in Southern California, Hendrickson developed an interest in railway history and technology from his years spent around the Santa Fe Railway. Following high school Hendricks spent a number of years as a sports car racer and mechanic before enlisting in the Navy as an electronics technician during the Korean War.
