Bill Einreinhofer is an Emmy Award winning American television producer, director and
writer who has produced several television programs, including many related to China and Old
China Hands. He is currently the Chair of the Broadcast Journalism department at the New
York Film Academy and an Adjunct Professor in the Communications program at Felician
College.
Scope and Contents
The
Bill Einreinhofer Collection contains Betacam tapes, CDs,
and DVDs made during the production of two television shows produced by Einreinhofer related
to China, most notably
So Very Far From Home, a documentary
about people interned in Japanese-run internment camps in China during World War II. The
collection is divided into two series,
Beyond Beijing (2008) and
So Very Far From Home (2005-2007).
Series I,
Beyond Beijing, contains video from
Beyond Beijing, a documentary mini-series produced by Einreinhofer
that looked at the six Chinese cities other than Beijing that were selected to host events
in the 2008 Summer Olympics games. Materials in the series focus on Shanghai and Tianjin
(Tientsin).
Series II,
So Very Far From Home, contains production video and
other materials for a documentary produced, directed and written by Einreinhofer.
So Very Far From Home focuses on the stories of five Old China
Hands who as children were placed into internment camps in China by the occupying Japanese,
and their remembrances of China and World War II.
