Description
The collection consists of photographs, prints, fashion plates, notes and other materials related to David Kunzle's research and publications on early comic art in Europe produced in the 15th-19th centuries. Materials in the collection were used for multiple books authored by Kunzle, including The Early Comic Strip: Narrative Strips and Picture Stories in the European Broadsheet from c.1450 to 1825, History of the Comic Strip: The Nineteenth Century, Rebirth of the English Comic Strip: A Kaleidoscope, 1847-1870, and From Criminal to Courtier: The Soldier in Netherlandish Art, 1550-1672.
