Abstract: A collection of zines acquired from UCI Libraries Annual Zinefest, various UCI courses, and events hosted by UCI Student Success
Initiatives and UCI Libraries. The collection also contains 11 digital zines created by students as part of the Gender and
Sexuality Studies class 100D: Queer Knowledges (Spring and Fall 2020, and Fall 2021) taught by Dr. Jeanne Scheper. Zines (short
for "magazine" or "fanzine") are self-published, small-circulation booklets, pamphlets or flyers created to advance the views
of the creator. Popular subjects include politics, music scenes, race and culture, fan clubs, social justice, gender and sexuality,
counter-culture, art and philosophy.

Transferred by UCI Libraries, 2019. Transferred from the UCI Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies, 2020-2021. Materials
separated from the UCI Special Collections zine collection (MS-M059) were added to the collection in 2021.
