Description
The collection contains sermons, journals and teachings by William M. Moremen (1927-), a United Church of Christ minister. He was active in civil rights and spirituality.
Background
William M. Moremen (1927- ) was raised in the Los Angeles area. He holds degrees from Pomona College and The Divinity School of the University of Chicago. A United Church of Christ minister, he has served five churches in diverse locations including Tehachapi, California; Los Angeles; Washington D.C.; Hayward; and Tiburon. His congregation in Los Angleles was one of the few integrated churches in the nation. In Washington, D.C., his church was involved in a controversy over leasing its facilities to the Metropolitan Community Church, which later became a model of cooperation.
