from its earliest days. It includes newspaper clippings, printed essays, scrapbooks, photographs, notebooks, handwritten diaries,
and public papers.

The San Joaquin County Historical Society General Manuscript Collection represents the initial efforts of volunteers in the
middle of the twentieth century to collect and preserve printed and handwritten historical material related to San Joaquin
County. Its organization and structure suggest that they used it as a catchall for a wide range of documents they discovered.
The General Manuscript Collections span the years from around 1850 to 2000. It is divided into eight series: 1. Locations
