Description
The General Manuscript Collection includes a wide range of materials in various formats related to San Joaquin County History from its earliest days. It includes newspaper clippings, printed essays, scrapbooks, photographs, notebooks, handwritten diaries, and public papers.
Background
The San Joaquin County Historical Society General Manuscript Collection represents the initial efforts of volunteers in the middle of the twentieth century to collect and preserve printed and handwritten historical material related to San Joaquin County. Its organization and structure suggest that they used it as a catchall for a wide range of documents they discovered.
