Abstract: This collection contains materials collected or created by Friedlander. They include documents from Tradeswomen, Inc., such
as correspondence, speech notes, registration forms, and publicity; and from the free schools Breakaway and Rising Tide, including
administrative materials, minutes, catalogs, correspondence, calendars and photographs. The collection also includes profiles
of women in The Last Monday Club and printouts from Friedlander's online memorial site, which explains why she choose assisted
suicide.

Spring R. Friedlander (1943-2019) was an advocate for working women, co-creating Tradeswomen, Inc., an association of women
working in the trades. as well as participating in The Last Monday Club, a business women's support group. Friedlander also
worked with Breakaway and Rising Tide, two free schools for women focusing on self-improvement, education in the trades, and
lesbian and feminist politics. Spring R. Friedlander identified as a bisexual Jewish woman and put extensive work into building
her career as a tradeswoman, offering shared housing for women, and as an advocate for women, LGBTQ+, and labor rights.
