Scope and Content of Collection
Material includes a scrapbook of Railfair 1981, an event held to celebrate the grand opening of the California State Railroad
Museum's Museum of Railroad History, May 2nd through May 10, 1981. Documents in the scrapbook include: correspondence, newspaper
clippings, the announcement of the California State Railroad Museum’s grand opening, a map of the new museum, a description
of the project, the schedule for and consist of special train operations to Sacramento for locomotive Nos. 9444 and 3985,
list of locomotives and rolling stock at Railfair, a list of movement of locomotives and rolling stock to Sacramento, proposed
schedules for operation of locomotive No. 4449, a schedule for Railfair 1981 and souvenirs.
There are three binders of railroad post office cancellations which include special trains, short line railroads and major
railroads primarily in the United States from 1888 to 1991. There are a few for German railroads.
