Biographical / Historical
The Compton 125 Historical Society is a direct result of the Compton 125 Project, which was established to celebrate the 125th
anniversary of the city of Compton. Spearheaded by Reverend Charles L. Brown and Minister Pauline Brown in June of 2013, the
Compton 125 Project sought to commemorate the legacy of Compton through community-centered initiatives that would provide
spaces for unifying interactions and educate the people of Compton. As such, by documenting the Compton 125 Project and its
celebrations, the Compton 125 Historical Society began the process of preserving the history of Compton, CA. Alongside materials
compiled from the Compton 125 Project, the Compton 125 Historical Society has continued to research and collect resources
