The Julian Floyd Knox Collection is divided into two series: Personal Papers and Project Records. The Project Records make
up the bulk of the collection and contain architectural drawings, primarily from Knox's time as a solo practitioner with a
small number of projects done in collaboration with architect Janis Sulzinger. The majority of the projects represented in
the collection are residential, many of which relate to client Paul Vincent and his development companies.
Julian Floyd Knox was born in Ponca, Oklahoma in 1930. He moved to Stockton, California where he attended Stockton High School
and the College of the Pacific, earning an AA in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and upon his return
enrolled at U.C. Berkeley. He graduated in 1957 with a BA in Architecture.
