This collection contains papers of American mime Richmond Shepard (1929-2019), chiefly relating to his career in the 1960s and 1970s. Materials include a typescript manuscript of "MimeโThe Technique of Silence," a book written by Shepard; two articles by Shepard; contracts; performance programs and fliers; press clippings; and photographs. An oversize folder holds a lobby card for a 1967 Cal State Long Beach event and a set of 1964 newspaper clippings of advertisements for Ann Barry Jr. clothing featuring Shepard.

Richmond Shephard (1929-2019) was an American mime, actor, and theater owner. He began performing as a mime on television in the 1950s and wrote "Mime: The Technique of Silence," a workbook published in 1971. He was also known as Lionel Shepard.
