Scope and Content Note

Bill files were created by Tony Cardenas while he served as an Assembly Member from 1997 to 2002. The files may include bill analyses, amendments and resolutions, author's statements, testimony, press releases, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and committee statements that pertain to numerous issues of concern to Cardenas.
As an Assembly Member, Tony Cardenas' legislative interests were varied. Some topics and bills of note include: public safety, (AB2674, 1997-1998), education reform (AB1453, 1997-1998; AB801, 1999-2000), business growth (AB83, 2000-2001; AB7771999-2000), and child protection issues (AB1730, 1999-2000). Additionally, a large focus of Cardenas' political interest focused on youth crime prevention (AB1913, 1999-2000; AB2885, 1999-2000).

Scope and Content Note

Juvenile Justice files include press and news clippings, correspondence, support letters, bill analyses, local government reports and/or interest group memoranda regarding the implementation of AB1913 (1999-2000), also known as the Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act of 2000. Topics within this series include program funding, state-wide implementation of AB1913, gender specific programs, Juvenile Justice council meetings, crime statistics, and multi-agency enforcement plans.
