Biographical / Historical
Ruth Hoffman was born January 2, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland. She passed away on October 18, 2013. She was married to Clifford
Earl Stanley on December 16, 1945. There are photographs of Clifford in the collection but no letters saved by Ruth. They
had three girls, Sharon (donor), Milanie, and Stephanie.
Clifford Earl Stanley was born June 8, 1920 in El Paso, Illinois. According to the donor, he spent the Second World War in
England in a munitions unit, though there is no information on his specific unit or rank.
