The Commercial Studios photograph of Rosalie (built 1893; passenger vessel), 1893-1918, (SAFR 24852, P17-001) is comprised of a photograph of the Alameda built steamship ROSALIE underway. The collection has been processed to the Collection level and is open for use.
Contains 1 black-and-white photographic print, 8 x 10 in., of a starboard broadside view of ROSALIE (built 1893; passenger vessel) underway with passengers on board, possibly while operating as a ferry in the San Francisco Bay Area, 1893-1918. There is a Commercial Studios of Oakland, California, stamp on the verso. The following note is handwritten on the verso: "Steamer 'Rosalie' built by Chas. G. White at his shipyard at Alameda Point in 1893. Was built for a play boat for some Chicago money men. Was later used for the 5 cent ferry called the Davie ferry. Later was sold to Seattle people; used as a freighter on Puget Sound. Later burned at a dock in Seattle. [signed] George J. White."

The steamship ROSALIE was built in 1893 by Charles G. White in Alameda, California.
John L. Davie operated ROSALIE as a ferry on San Francisco Bay. She left to run on Puget Sound and later made trips to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush. She operated with the Northwestern Steamship Company, Alaska Steamship Company, and Puget Sound Navigation Company. ROSALIE was destroyed by fire while laid up at Seattle, Washington, in 1918.
