- The Pinsky Pamphlet Collection contains printed material such as pamphlets, booklets and convention proceedings published by the CIO and affiliated unions including the United Automobile, Aircraft and Agricultural Implement Workers of America; United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers of America; International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union; Marine Cooks' and Stewards' Association of the Pacific Coast; and International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers primarily during the 1940's and 1950's. The materials address a wide range of labor issues of the period, including such topics as manpower problems during World War II, anti-fascism, racial discrimination, communism in unions, and automation. In addition, there are several pamphlets issued by the CIO Political Action Committee (PAC) that promote union-endorsed candidates and issues.

The collection contains 278 pamphlets and has items dated from 1936 up to 1964. With the many drawings, cartoons, and photos featured in nearly every pamphlet, the collection also serves as a rich source of labor artwork. In addition, the collection also reveals the efforts unions made toward promoting themselves and the labor stance on different political issues.
- Biographical / historical:

Paul Pinsky was born on November 22, 1912 in Harbin, Manchuria. After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, Pinsky joined the Federation of Architects, Engineers, Chemists, and Technicians in 1937. Pinsky later became a columnist in the Labor Herald and served as the Research Director for the California CIO Council from the early 1940's up to his retirement.

- This collection was donated by Paul and Sarah Pinsky in 1987 under the direction of Lynn Bonfield; Pinsky also donated California Information and Research Department material to the Labor Archives in 1986.
