Abstract:
Hanify Company ledgers (SAFR 242, HDC 483) document the movement and business of Hanify steam schooners on the West coast. The first ledger dates range from 1913 to 1922 and records movements of steamers SANTA MONICA, SANTA BARBARA, RYDER HANIFY, ANNE HANIFY, and the schooner W.J. PATTERSON. The second ledger dates from 1922 to 1925 and records the movements of the ANNE HANIFY, RYDER HANIFY, SANTA BARBARA, SANTA MONICA, and WELLESLEY. On the first pages of each ledger are the statistics for most of the vessels in the ledgers and include length, launch date, year built, builder, and other measurements. This collection has been processed and is open for use without restriction.
