Cornerstone Information 1903-1935

Scope and Contents

This series includes two inventory lists of written materials that were included in the cornerstone. The first one combines the original 1903 cornerstone material with the 1925 cornerstone material. The second one lists the materials added to the cornerstone in 1935. Also includes a program and a 1925 statement of opening.

Schools 1903-1935

Scope and Contents

This series includes correspondence by members of the board of trustees, including the President, H.J. Mayo; a collection of poems and versus in a book titled, "Songs of a School Master"; a faculty directory; and a detailed report of the reconstruction of Compton Union Schools following the 1933 Earthquake. There are also five sub-series that have been organized as follows: Compton Junior High School, Compton Union High School, Compton Junior College, Compton Junior College and High School.The sub-series include a blank letterhead with a picture of the Compton Grammar School Building, school newspapers, yearbooks, class schedules, pamphlets, school reports, and guidebooks.

Scope and Contents

Includes correspondence from Anchor Lodge No. 273, Clearwater-Hyne Woman's Club, Compton Elks Lodge No. 1570, Compton Kiwanis Club, Ed Webb Post #134, Hynes-Clearwater-Hollydale Kiwanis Club, Lynwood Exchange Club, Lynwood Woman's Club, Order of the Daughters, Pathfinder Club, The Rotary Club, and Womans Club of Compton. All letters are addressed to the Compton Union District Board of Trustees. Most contain information of their club along with the status of their members. Other correspondence offer congratulatory messages to the Union for the successful reconstruction of the Compton Schools after the 1933 earthquake.
