Description
The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee is the organizing body of San Francisco’s Pride parade and festival, which has run each year in various forms since 1970. The collection largely consists of ephemera, photographs, and video from parades between 1995 and 2019, although each of the years 1979-1994 is represented.
Background
The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee is the organizing body of San Francisco’s Pride parade and festival, which has run each year in various forms since 1970. Successively known as the Gay-In, Christopher Street West, Gay Freedom Day, and the International Lesbian & Gay Freedom Day Parade, it assumed its current name in 1995 and now attracts more than one million spectators each year.
