This collection contains two posters documenting environmentalist activities engaged in by Jerry Burchfield and Mark Chamberlain, two professional photographers living in Laguna Beach, California. The posters are titled The tell: phase viii - Laguna Canyon Project, circa 1989-1990 and Save the canyon, circa 1998-1999.
Jerry Burchfield, born in 1947, was an photographer living in Southern California. From 1973 to 1987, Burchfield co-owned BC Space Gallery in Laguna Beach. Much of the art displayed in this gallery had political implications, particularly about environmental issues. Burchfield and other photographers began photographing and documenting Laguna Cayon in 1974 in order to try to prevent a development being built there. Burchfield published several books on photography and he was also a professor and photography gallery director at Cypress College from 1987 to 2009. Burchfield passed away in September 2009.
