Biography
Clarence Richard Wallace was an American director. He was a projectionist from 1908 to 1912. After
World War I, Wallace went to work for Fox Film Corporation as an editor and, eventually, as a director.
He was active as a film director from 1921 to 1949.
Collection Scope and Content Summary
The Richard Wallace papers span the years 1912-1992 (bulk 1915-1951) and encompass 2 linear feet. The
collection consists of miscellaneous papers, including a single script for THE YOUNG IN HEART (1938), a
small amount of correspondence, and drafts of writings by Wallace. The majority of material is found in
the scrapbooks, which include publicity clippings and reviews for the period from 1916 to 1939. The
photograph series consists of three large and two small photo albums containing biography and subject
photographs.
