    Biographical Note

    Lawrence D. Longo (1926-2016) was born in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Pacific Union College and then the College of Medical Evangelists (now Loma Linda University School of Medicine) in 1954. Dr. Longo established the Center for Perinatal Biology at Loma Linda University and served as its founding director from 1973-2012; he was president of both the Society for Gynecologic Investigation (1982-1983) and the American Osler Society (2002-2003).

    Scope and Content

    The collection consists of two boxes. Box 1: Volumes and Documents, approx. 1575-1822, HM 83505-83510 ; Box 2: Volumes, Documents, Manuscripts and Correspondence, 1843-1931, HM 83511-83529. The material deals with the history of medicine, midwifery, gynecology, obstetrics and childbirth; this collection forms part of the Lawrence D. Longo and Betty Jeanne Longo Collection in Reproductive Biology.
