    Abstract: This collection consists of article clippings, dating from 1967 to 1977, from the newspaper "La Voz de la Frontera," published in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. La Voz focuses on local Mexico and U.S. border issues. The clippings are chiefly arranged in broad subjects related to topics including politics, industry and commerce, culture, and international relations.

    Biographical / Historical

    "La Voz de la Frontera" ("The Voice of the Border") is a daily newspaper published in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. The newspaper was founded on September 20, 1964. In the 1960s and 1970s, Jesús Blancornelas served as editor-in-chief.

    Scope and Contents

    This collection consists of article clippings, dating from 1967 to 1977, from the newspaper "La Voz de la Frontera," published in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. The clippings were compiled by Ronald Chilcote, a professor of Political Science at the University of California, Riverside, for his own research on U.S-Mexico border issues.
    The clippings are chiefly arranged by subject, often on specific topics related to politics, industry and commerce, culture, and international relations.
    There are also files for editorials and feature columns including: Ahora (feature series); Aquí (feature column on Mexicali); Con "M" de Mexicali (editorial column); Diciendo Verdades (feature column on Mexicali); Editorials (Daily Lead Editorial); En Voz Baja (feature column); Feature Columns; Politica al Día (Editorial column); and Voz Alta (editorial column, Sundays).
    In addition, while mostly comprised of clippings, the collection does include the full Sunday historical and cultural section "Posdata."
