This collection consists of two typescripts of the "The Ordeal of George Meredith," a biography by Lionel Stevenson (1902-1973)
published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1953.
Background
Lionel Stevenson (1902-1973) was a Canadian author who taught at the University of Southern California from 1937 to 1955.
He later was a Professor of English Literature at Duke University. Stevenson's work included biographies of George Meredith,
Charles Lever, and William Makepeace Thackeray.
