Junior Commando Communique 2008/049 1944-03-25

General

The Junior Commandos, for 6- to 14-year-olds, was sponsored by the Sacramento Junior Chamber of Commerce and worked to help the war effort by having children collect reusable goods that would then be sold to commercial and industrial users. The children would then vote on where to donate the money they got for their items. Two documents describe the Commandos to parents and children and invite the children to participate. For this event, children were to meet at the Alhambra Theater on March 25, 1944, to be enlisted into the Commandos, then they were asked to collect glass coffee jars.
