Dr. Pedro Chan's collection of early railroading and transcontinental railroad material includes Harper's Weekly vintage prints taken along the Transcontinental Railroad route, drawings of United States Pacific Railroad Exploratiion and Survey, a photograph of Chinese workers, Central Pacific Railroad tickets,expense bills and vouchers. There is a Sioux City and Pacific Railroad payroll from 1870, and a Northern Pacific stock certificate and equipment drawing.

Dr. Pedro Chan collects through E-Bay for the purpose of donating to institutions in the United States and China. His primary collecting focus is World War II Flying Tigers, a group of P 40 fighter planes painted to look like Japanese man-eating beasts and flown by Chinese pilots. Dr. Chan also collects items that illustrate the role of Chinese immigration on building the Transcontinental Railroad.
