Description
Board ledgers, account and minute books spanning the entire period of the Park Hotel’s operation in Chico, 1888-1947, make
up the collection. Also included is a deed, from John Bidwell to the Park Hotel, dated March 15, 1887.
Background
The Park Hotel Company was formed in 1888 to acquire property and build a hotel in Chico (California). Stock in the company
was sold as $100 a share to local businessmen, including John Bidwell. The company’s initial seven directors: Samuel Ostroski,
M. Oser, Henry Peters, Martin Heller, A.H. Crew, A.L. Nicols and John Deveny. The hotel was sold in 1945 and the corporation
was dissolved in 1947.
