    Biography

    Franchot Tone was an American stage, film, and television actor active from the 1920s through 1968. He is best known for his Academy-nominated role in MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY (1935). He co-produced THE MAN ON THE EIFFEL TOWER (1950) and UNCLE VANYA (1958). He played the president in the Otto Preminger production of ADVISE & CONSENT (1962).
