Custodial History
This document appears to have been created by Adolph Bandelier around 1883. Bandelier could not locate the manuscript, but
this vocabulary was preserved by Charles Fletcher Lummis. Lummis travelled to New Mexico with Bandelier in 1888 and explored
Canyon Rito de Los Frijoles, known today as the Bandelier National Monument.
Historical Note
A publication of this manuscript of Keres vocabulary produced jointly by Charles H. Lange and the Southwest Museum was proposed
for publication sometime after 1974. Lange published a book on Cochiti pueblo in 1990, but not specifically on the Keres language.
