Scope and content:

This collection contains the papers and scrapbooks of actor, William Farnum (1876-1953). Papers include playscripts, personal photographs, theater programs, handbills, correspondence, clippings, and publicity relating to the theater and movie careers of William and Dustin Farnum. Scrapbooks contain photographs from stage appearances and motion picture stills, as well as clippings, including a number from Tale of Two Cities (1917) and The Conqueror (1917).

Biographical / historical:

William Farnum (1876-1953) was an American actor. After a highly successful career as a theater actor, he went on to become a star of American silent cinema. Farnum was one of the highest paid actors during his time as an actor in Hollywood.
