The PRIDE Center is one of the support centers that makes up the Centers for Diversity and Inclusion, which is found under Student Engagement and Success within the Division of Student Affairs at Sacramento State. The Center began as the Pride Program in 2004 (part of the Women's Resource Center), and then became its own center in Fall 2006 when it resided in Foley Hall 110 (Foley Hall was replaced with the American River Courtyard residence halls). In the Spring/Summer of 2007 the Pride Center relocated to the Library 1st floor (across from the main library entrance) and shared space with the Multicultural and Women's Resource Centers. In 2009, the Pride Center and Women's Resource Centers moved to the University Union where they resided on the 1st floor. In 2019, the Women's Resource Center gained their own space, with the Pride Center remaining on the 1st floor of the University Union. In September of 2024, the Pride Center moved to the 2nd floor of the Union with added spacing for the Center's office and offerings.
Per their campus website: The Pride Center provides Sacramento State "students looking for a connection to campus with programs and events, access to resources on campus and in the community, a welcoming space, and opportunities for education about LGBTQIA communities and the intersections of many identities and experiences. We exist to create and maintain a campus environment that is open, safe, and supportive of student diversity in the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression."
