    Biographical / Historical

    Fred H. Rohr was born in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1896. In the 1920s he became a metal worker producing aircraft components. In 1923 he worked for Paris Manufacturing Co. In 1925 he became manager of the Prudden Aircraft Co. In 1940 he founded Rohr Aircraft to make aircraft sub-assemblies. In 1969 Rohr was incorporated as Rohr Corporation. In 1971 the company changed its name to Rohr Industries. In 1992 the company name was changed to Rohr, Inc. In 1997 Rohr was purchased by Goodrich Corporation. Goodrich Corporation was purchased by United Technologies in August 2012. The company was spun off into an umbrella company called United Technologies Aerospace Systems. It continues to operate to this day.
