    Biographical / Historical

    Kresge College is a residential college in the University of California, Santa Cruz. Founded in 1971 as an experiment in participatory democracy and community-building, Kresge was originally collectively planned and managed by faculty, administrators, and students. Early curriculum centered on humanistic psychology, women's studies, and environmental studies. Prominent early faculty include the theorist Gregory Bateson, and Beat poet William Everson.

    Content Description

    This collection documents the history of Kresge College from its inception to the early 2000s, and primarily comprises early college planning documents, administrative records and correspondence, event-related ephemera, and recordings of commencements, lectures, and other events on DVD, VHS, and cassette tape.
