Background
- Scope and content:
-
The collection includes scrapbooks, photographs, pamphlets, printed materials, biographical records, certificates, and video interviews. Most of the materials focus on family life and related individuals, along with documents on the Association of Russian Cadets Outside of Russia, particularly its educational institutions and military history.
- Biographical / historical:
-
The Bogoliubov (Боголюбов) family was part of the Russian émigré community that emerged after the Russian Revolution, when many intellectuals fled the Soviet Union. Semen Nikolaevich Bogoliubov (1889–1971) and his wife Elena Mikhailovna (Елена Михайловна) were exiled after the Bolsheviks took power. He continued his work in education abroad, teaching in Germany after World War II, mainly in Displaced Persons camps, and later moved to the United States. Their son Nikolai (Николай) became an artist, and their daughter Tat'iana (Татьяна) a teacher. In the United States, the family stayed active in academia and cultural life; helping preserve Russian traditions. Their story reflects the wider émigré experience.
