Biographical Note
Victor J. Yasmann was a Radio Liberty research analyst on Russian internal and foreign policy, new political institutes and
parties, Russian nationalists, political, industrial and financial elites, Soviet/Russian science and technology, Russian
secret service, commercial legislation, and patent and intellectual property law. He is an author of
The KGB Documents and the Soviet Collapse: A Preliminary Report and
Gorbachev and KGB.
Scope and Content of Collection
The Victor J. Yasmann papers contain materials pertaining to the history of the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia. It includes
research material in form of studies, clippings, and other printed matter. The collection also contains many of Yasmann's
writings, including drafts of his monograph,
Gorbachev and KGB.
There is also a considerable amount of materials relating to Yasmann's service as Radio Liberty research analyst on Russia.
These papers include writings, radio scripts, reports, audio and video recordings relating to radio broadcasting to Russia,
political conditions in the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia, and Soviet/Russian secret police.
