Scope and content:

Includes mostly material from Elmo Warkentin's workshops on evangelism and Christian education, as well as some biographical information and material from three demographic studies he conducted in anticipation of planting Mennonite Brethren congregations. Most of the workshop material is undated.

Biographical / historical:

Elmo Warkentin was a pastor and conference leader in the Mennonite Brethren Church. He served as pastor of Mennonite Brethren congregations in Kansas and Oklahoma, and also Baptist congregations in Kansas and Illinois. From 1961 to 1969 Warkentin was Executive Secretary of the U.S. Mennonite Brethren Church Board of Evangelism and Christian Education. From 1969 until 1981 Warkentin helped establish several Mennonite Brethren congregations in California and Colorado.
