Biography/Administrative History
The California Appellate Court Legacy Project was undertaken in 2006 as a statewide effort to develop original sources for
the study of the California Court of Appeal, First through Sixth Appellate Districts. The project records and preserves the
oral histories of retired justices of and justices nearing retirement from the California Court of Appeal. The majority of
the interviews have been conducted by justices serving in the same appellate district as the justice being interviewed. Prior
to each interview, the California Judicial Center Library compiles background materials including biographical, decisional
and bibliographic data about justices to be interviewed. Background materials are listed in the library catalog, available
at http://library.courtinfo.ca.gov. The Appellate Court Legacy Project Committee and staff of the Judicial Council of California
continue to schedule interviews with justices as they retire from the bench.
