The Building Division of the City of Sacramento regulates construction and development within the city limits in order to safeguard and ensure the health and safety of the public. The division issues permits, reviews plans, and inspects building to ensure compliance with building codes. It is currently under the Community Development Department (2019).

- Transferred from the City of Sacramento Building Division in 1980 (accession #1980/102) and 2002 (accession #2002/018).
