Series 9: Artifacts, undated

Scope and Contents note

The "Artifacts" series includes a scaler which was used to research how children in Sweden interpret make-believe and real-life violence depicted on TV. The project did this by presenting children with "a variety of pictures with abstract concepts," and it measured the "message distance" and "reality cue distance".
In addition to the scaler, the series contains cards created by Hirsch with pictorial images of specific concepts that were attached to metal plates. The magnets that held the plates in place are also included.
