Japanese election day." Mr. and Mrs. Miyato, one of the 5 couples to run for election, posing outside their home with their children; couple arriving at poles to vote. LS, MSs, CUs, Japanese men and women standing in line waiting to cast their votes. MLSs, billboards announcing the Communist, Progressive, and Liberal party candidates are scanned by civilians. Interior of the Aeyagi School. Hatoyama family and others cast their votes. Travel shot, crowd in line waiting to vote. Interior of the Nan Zan School: civilians getting their ballots stamped and then dropping them into ballot boxes. CU, woman with child on her back as she marks her vote. A man with crutches, accompanied by his wife, entering polling place. CU, civilians pick up their ballots. Sequence: ballot boxes are unlocked; votes are sorted and counted Japanese men and women marking the number of votes of each contestant. Crowd watching results put up on bulletin board.
