Biographical / Historical
Corporal Frederick Leo Dooley, United States Army (6/9/1922 - 9/5/2000) was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey to Frederick
and Mary Dooley. Cpl. Dooley was the only son with several sisters, including Florence who is mentioned in the letter from
his mother at the end of the war. He served with Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 106th Infantry. More biographical information

Content Description
This collection contains one correspondence to Cpl. Fred L. Dooley from his mother shortly after the Second World War. Cpl.
Dooley's mother, Mary, wrote from Newark, New Jersey in September, 1945 and hopes that he will be home soon, preferably by
Christmas, and believes he will because he already has 71 points. She is happy that he is safe and discusses his new nephew/god
son (Florence's child) and some of the other family members. Also included in the collection are 15 six cent air mail stamps
with a picture of a plane.
